- Hemsedal's ambition is to compete with the best mountain bike destinations in Scandinavia. For the 2022 season, they officially opened the Silverstone flow trail, which offers almost 10 km of lift-based fun. At the same time, a talented team of trail builders has been working to ensure that cyclists will soon be able to enjoy more than twice as many kilometers of lift-based bike trails in Hemsedal!
"If you cycle out here... Yes, you feel you're a bit more out in nature then." Hemsedal is often referred to as The Scandinavian Alps, referring to the fact that the mountains here are a little higher and steeper than those found in Eastern Norway. Ove Grøndal from trail building company Trailhead Nesbyen has spent the summer working in Hemsedal's high mountains. His crew is now putting the finishing touches to two new trail segments for the fall holidays. These will be "trails for the people" - whether you want to stroll on foot, roll slowly to enjoy the spectacular views, or speed up through rollers and dosers.

Not far away, trail builders from Rekkje Stiutvikling are working on what will be the big news for 2023: A 7 km long flow trail, packed with fun elements and mountain biking. Hemsedal really means business when they say they're going to be at the top of Scandinavian mountain biking!

Fresh trails for the 2022 fall break!
Broadway is the name of the first trail segment, which greets you as soon as you get off the lift. The trail stretches east to the beautiful Sollaustbekken, from where you have an unsurpassed view of the Hemsedals mountains. The trail is an easy, two-way multi-use path, suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists. A new bridge and shelter have been built at Sollaustbekken, where you can take a break and enjoy the view. From the new viewpoint, you can either roll or stroll back to Fjellkafeen for a refill of coffee and cake, or you can continue east on the new blue graded trail High Line.
High Line. starts with a gentle climb that winds through the beautiful high mountain landscape. The last part of the ride offers fun downhill cycling with rollers and backpacks. Together with Broadway, the High Line gives cyclists an excellent warm-up lap of 2.3 km before heading for the valley floor. For those who like to pedal under their own power, you can add in lap after lap of Broadway and High Line - possibly combined with the upper loop of Silverstonewhich provides almost 4.5 km of continuous pedaling and flow.

More news for 2023
Hemsedal's biggest news by far will be the 7 km long floating trail, which stretches all the way from the new viewpoint at Sollaustbekken down to Totteskogen. For the time being, the trail goes under the project name "Sentrumsstien".
There will definitely be several new mandatory "Insta-spots" for the cycling community!
It is suitable for cyclists who feel they have mastered Silverstone and want a little extra challenge. The trail builders at Rekkje Stiutvikling have used indigenous materials and designed a fun and varied trail that changes character all the way from top to bottom. There will be sections with open flow, tabletops and large metered bends, as well as sections with natural narrow paths and rocky outcrops. In addition to raw biking , the nature experience is also of the extraordinary kind. There are guaranteed to be several new mandatory "Insta-spots" for cyclists!

**IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO THE CYCLING COMMUNITY**
"Sentrumsstien" will open in the summer of 2023. Construction will continue right up to the opening and the trail is therefore to be regarded as a construction area. Cycling is prohibited along the entire trail. Defying this prohibition could pose a danger to both the cyclist and those working on the trail. Furthermore, biking on the trail will result in additional work for the trail builders and thus an additional cost for the cycling family in Hemsedal. We fully understand all the eager cyclists out there who want to explore the trail - but we strongly urge you to play along and help ensure that this demanding project is completed on time and within budget. This will give the local community better conditions for continuing to develop new trails for cyclists. Thank you!
