Updated Thursday, May 16: The cycling season in Hallingdal is off to a great start! Temperatures in the valley have been dangerously close to 30 degrees, which means there are already great cycling conditions in many places. Here is an update from all the destinations in Hallingdal.
Høgevarde:
There is still some snow in the high mountains, so you'll have to wait a little longer if you want to enjoy the beautiful flow trails at Høgevarde. The trails are expected to be bikeable around June 1, but the official opening and start of the shuttle service will be June 22.
Turufjell:
The pumptrack, skill park and flow trail are all snow-free and ready for action!
Nesbyen:
Both the eastern and western sides are bikeable and the conditions are great!
Hallingspranget is closed due to snow at altitude. As soon as the snow has melted, maintenance and repairs after last year's problems will begin. Official opening is set for July 1.
Gol:
The trails around Gol city center and in Hallingmo Stisenter are snow-free and the cycling is spotless!
Ål:
Both Hallingspretten and Bråtabakkjin are ready for biking. Seasonal maintenance is carried out in weeks 20 and 21. Hillbilly Bike Park is also snow-free. Otherwise, only trails are reported at Ål and Torpo.
Hallingdal Bicycle Park is getting a brand new look for the 2024 season. The trail builders at Stiteknikk have installed new ramps in the red line and reshaped the entire park! There is still snow in the high mountains.
Geilo:
At the top of Hallingdal there is still a lot of snow on the trails. The pumptrack in Vestlia Sykkelpark is snow-free and open for the season. The jump lines need seasonal maintenance and are currently closed.
Hemsedal:
The trails in Tottalia Bike Park are snow-free and ready for the season.
It was season finale, après-ski and powder just a couple of weeks ago in the "Scandinavian Alps" and you still have to wait a bit for lift-based biking. But with high temperatures, the snow is melting fast and this year the lift-based trails will open as early as June 22!
NB. The snow is melting and every day new trails are becoming bikeable. However, there may be fallen trees and damage to trails in forests and fields after a long winter. We therefore encourage you to always cycle at a leisurely pace on your first trip in order to be able to stop for unforeseen obstacles.
The case will be updated. Do you have tips or observations from the terrain? Feel free to send us input at rides@trakknroll.no!
